Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American as well as a Canadian singer-songwriter. Her work has been featured on many studio records. DiFranco classifies her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. But it has influences from punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as the feminist's icon and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first creator of DIY music. It was one of the very first musicians to establish the label she created in 1990. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in New York City, York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who came across Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother and father were both of Montreal from Montreal.
