Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American as well as a Canadian singer-songwriter. Her work has been featured on many studio records. DiFranco classifies her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. But it has influences from punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as the feminist's icon and Grammy-winning performer, is regarded as to be the first creator of DIY music. It was one of the very first musicians to establish the label she created in 1990. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in New York City, York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who came across Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother and father were both of Montreal from Montreal. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the hit song "32 Flavors". It is a track from her album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio album. The song is featured in the soundtrack to the 1999 Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she was hosting an event for three days at an old Louisiana plantation for slaves. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco issued another apology several days later. She is known for her Little Folksinger style, but she has worked with several different genres and artists from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. Her home is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. By 14 she was writing her own songs. Her teens were spent singing them in pubs and coffee shops. DiFranco was a graduate at age sixteen at the age of 16, from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School, was the first to attend classes at Buffalo State College. Ani's custom Alvarez baritone came about after several meetings we held with Chrys Johnson, who was the artist representative for Alvarez. The guitar is the System 600 guitar with solid woods, including cedar for the top, mahogany for the back and sides, and Ebony for the fretboard. She's home with her two children living in New Orleans and Lefty, their sidekick long-legged canine who is always in the frame. The 1972 pop-rock song Brandy (You're a gorgeous girl) was written by American band Looking Glass for their debut album Looking Glass.
